When seeking a therapist it is important to find the right person to hold space for your healing journey. Below is some background information about my experience as a psychotherapist and areas of expertise.

Karen Navarro
Owner, Therapist

(she/they)

I am a bilingual psychotherapist and social worker with training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

As a therapist I have had the opportunity to develop skills in play and art therapy with my work in K-12 school-based health centers. I have also had the privilege to run parent and women support groups for immigrant families in Spanish. I have worked as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant- providing support to parents and teachers through observation of children in their care (0 to 5 years old). I worked as a bilingual educator with community clinics in Oakland and San Francisco to provide one-on-one and group education in the areas of sexual health, nutrition, healthy relationships, pleasure, drug and alcohol harm reduction strategies and organizational communication.

I currently work as a therapist at Chabot College and with clients through my psychotherapy private practice.

(she/they/he)

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish), multicultural, dedicated educator and community advocate. I’ve worked in a variety of communities supporting the educational success of individual students and communal success of families over the past 20 years. My personal passion for continued learning and exploration has led me down a winding road and given me opportunities to travel to 15+ countries, while learning various skills to improve my ability to care for myself, my loved ones and community.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree studying at the University of California, San Diego, and the Universidad de Granada, España, as well as completed certification in Massage Therapy at Fair Oaks Massage Institute, and a yearlong course on Herbal Medicine Making through Living Awareness Institute.

I enjoy using my administrative, organizational, and technical skills to support the development of organizations, programs and services that address the ever so important need of our community for mental health support, resources, programs and wellness. As Executive Assistant with Living Heart Therapy, I look forward to hearing from you and helping connect you with our services and resources.
